Not every role lasts forever. Companies change. Leadership transitions. Projects conclude. Eventually, someone else inherits what we have been responsible for.
I have learned to evaluate contribution through a simple question: Is the system stronger because I was part of it?
Not only the financial result, but the clarity of decisions, the quality of people, the trust among stakeholders, and the organisation's ability to continue without depending excessively on one individual.
Real leadership should not make itself indispensable. It should build capability that remains after the leader has moved on.
Personal achievement may be remembered for a period. A stronger system continues creating value long after recognition fades.
The most lasting contribution is not being difficult to replace, but leaving behind something capable of continuing without us.
