Short Short Reflection 75

Health Also Lives Between People

Reflection 75 · On Social Wellbeing

1-min read · Looking Inward

We often approach health as an individual project. Our own sleep, nutrition, exercise, measurements and routines. But I have learned that wellbeing is also influenced by the quality of the relationships around us.

Some conversations leave the body lighter. Some environments require us to remain guarded. Some people allow us to be honest before we have organised the answer.

Digital connection can increase the number of people we reach while reducing the depth with which we feel known. For executive leaders, isolation can grow quietly because authority changes what others feel comfortable saying.

Sustainable health therefore includes relationships in which performance is not always required.

The body may be cared for individually. But part of being well comes from knowing we do not have to carry every part of life alone.

Health is personal, but wellbeing is also shaped by the relationships in which the body and mind are allowed to feel safe.
